Emergency Clan Meeting-Results

I put this here because it wasn't really a clan meeting, but whatever. Anyway, we had an emergency clan meeting Friday night (we being Roxy, Ashlee, Brenda, Maria, Moon, jewl, and myself) and we all agreed that things need to change around here. And change they shall.

Guys
-We're going to make all of the guys on the portal guests. It looks bad when we say we're an all girls clan and people see guy members. Then we have to take the time to explain. It's just easier to have only girl members.
-Guys will still be members on ning, but not forumotion or the portal.
-We're probably going ahead with the brother clan thing. The agreed upon name was The Queens' Knights [TQK]. Anybody that wants to join can, but they need to gain our approval first. Ning is going to be used as a social site for both clans to interact. If the guys get serious and want their own site, we'll make them one. As for leaders, we'll see who we have and either let them choose or choose them ourselves.

Moderators/Admins
-As some of you may have noticed, many moderators have become inactive. So we're going to demod everyone, then have them request to be remodded. We probably won't have as many as last time, I know I like to have no more than four mods but it might be more depending.
-Only mods that are mods here are going to be mods on the portal. We simply have too many. We might choose one or two more girls to mod the portal, depending on how active on the portal the forum mods are.
-There are too many owners on the portal as well. From now on, only admins are going to be owners, no matter how inactive they are.
-The people who are admins are subject to change as well. For those who don't know, Maria is officially back. So we're going to have a vote as to who is going to be an admin besides Ashlee, and it's between Brenda, Maria, and myself. It might be one or two other admins depending on what Ashlee wants.

Inactivity
-It's pretty obvious we're going through a slump right now. We really need to get more active members so we can snap out of it.
-We're going to assign pairs of members to different sites as a way of recruitment. If you're assigned to a site, your job is to do your best to convince other female brawlers and racers to join our clan.
-I know Roxy and Sam are working on AiB as of now, but they don't have to be the only ones. Please start volunteering!
-Even if you don't get assigned to a site, you can still recruit. This is extremely important, we can't afford to lose any more members if we don't gain some. (Not that I want to lose current members, but you get the point.)

I'm pretty sure I covered everything, but I didn't take notes so it's hard to tell. If I forgot something and you have mod powers then feel free to add it in, if not post it here so I can add it. Please and thank you.

i guess thats all fine. i dont really like the idea that youd have to be a mod here on the forums to be one in the portal. i dont really see the connection. the portal and forums have a different amount of activity from different people. also the functions are different. on the forum mods clean up the waste, lock subjects, very very very rarely might have to stop an argument, but now that only members can post i dont see that happening, make announcements, stuff like that. the ONLY job for a mod on the portal is to ban people that are being intolerable. pretty easy stuff. and those mods or even owners should be active. forum can happen anytime, but the mods are needed on the portal right then and there for their one and only job. its not like being an owner is hurting any one or anything. it doesnt look bad, who cares? and it can only be helpful to permanently banning fools that happen onto our site. i dont see the problem with everyone of our members being a mod or owner. wasnt that the original plan? make all members mods so when a problem comes they dont have to wait for someone who isnt there to come deal with it. whereas on the forums sure how many mods do you really need? probably wouldnt need more than two if they were active.

im going to go on aib and look up the girl groups and just ask them all individually if they want to come. i think that could do some good. and jewlecho was a crucial part of that meeting lol.

One thing you missed: the banning rule in clan wars. Stay or go? We had a problem in our last clan war that someone who was banned ended up participating. It's not fair to give people exemptions in any circumstances, even if the banned person's intention really was to attend the war they missed, rules are rules. It looks bad when we play favorites and also when we can't follow our own rules. If this rule is too hard to follow, then we ALL need to be more rigid or else this rule needs to go. Admins, clan war leaders, and all members must respect the rules in all circumstances, even when we end up having not enough members to participate in the war or one of our good fighters is banned.

On the other issues, I changed my mind about having too many admins . I think we're fine with three: Ashlee, Katie, Me.

And I'm going to lax my stance as well on the owners on the portal thing. I guess with what Moon said having a few owners is all right, but what I'm worried about is that we're playing favorites on this issue too. I'm afraid somewhere down the line someone's going to ask, well why is so-and-so an owner when she's not an Admin? What are the qualifications of being owner?

Well, I think that mods on the portal doesn't really matter. It's not like they have so much power that they can really abuse it. I say we make the mods on the forum moderators on the portal, but add a few other people that are really active. I think three owners is good, we don't have to permaban that many people. If it becomes a problem then we can make one or two more people owners.

And about the ban rule for the wars: Moon and I agreed to temporarily remove it and see what happens. If it helps, then we'll be rid of it completely. Lol sorry for forgetting it.

As far as mods, I think there should definitely be a few less here in the forums, but I honestly don't see a problem with the amount in the portal at all.

With recruiting, as much as I dislike myspace now, I know there a few people I could get from there that I know. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try Gaia either. They have an active Brawl section with both newcomers other higher ranked players. So I know I could get a few new people from there. Does anyone here go to Smashboards? That area still seems uncovered.

im one of the favorites right maria? lol i better be. i think my qualifications are clear. ive been hear forever, never did anything negative to the clan, on the contrary ive made long lasting friendships with many of you, i hold the respect of nearly every active person on the portal and the clan as well, im the co'leader' of the queens of brawl. i try to keep the site inspired and active.. i dont think its necessary to say all this but just in case it is, there you go lol. on the other hand if you want to take away the mod powers from me its whatever. ive had them, ive not had them, ive had them again. either way i still do the same stuff, just less banning of morons.

banning rule.. idk ive never found it difficult to follow. as long as everyone complies it will be fine. i feel like i can say for a fact ashlee was not playing favorites when she broke the rule for roxy. she just wanted the clan to succeed in the war. understandable circumstances and as the main leader that is her prerogative. still things flow better and tensions are erased when people are treated equally as maria says. for now the rule is gone. pending the events that follow the rule will remain that way.

The only people who heard about the meeting were the people online in the chat after the war was over. I just called whoever was there for a meeting.

Now that I think about it, what ever happened to the idea of a "highlight" video showcasing both the QoB and QMK sections of QR? The whole idea just faded out and died. I mean, the video could help with recruiting more people by demonstrating what we're capable of. If good enough clips are put together and impress enough people, chances are that new members may want to join and become a part of QR.

I hate to buy into stereotypes, but the video will prove that we are actually serious about being a Brawling clan and not just some group of girls thrown together to play Brawl. I hate to see it that way, but that's how some people outside of QR still think.

Even if the video doesn't bring in new members, we're not at a loss. It's still good for QR's publicity. Look at what the QR page on youtube has done. Plus, didn't most of the people here (when it was still really active) want to make one anyway? So really it's a win-win situation.

Now it's starting to go a bit off, but you get my point. lol The video could help in gaining new members.

I totally forgot about that! We're going to need help on accomplishing this though. We should have all or however we want that Brawl upload some matches to somebody. Maybe Moon and Katie can be in charge of the brawl section? I'm not sure about the Mario Kart Wii, maybe Maria or Daisy can be in charge of that portion of the video?

well, i can supply some kick ass footage from my replays, but i cant do anything like make a video haha im not that good. need someone who can do that. i do think the videos should be seperate though. one for brawl one for mk.

I agree with Moon, one for brawl and one for MK would be ideal. I need to get a capture card, until then I can't capture any of my footage, but I can go through replays and tell someone who's good at making videos what should be in it lol. So if you have any replays that you'd like added, send them to me!

what happens if you send a hacked video to someone who doesnt hack?

Then as long as it's regular Brawl and not Brawl+ it will still be the same. Just without the stage and character textures, or music hacks. But for some reason tags in replays and ones over 3 minutes long work just fine with someone who does not hack. So the replays will be fine.
