The first one was so popular Nintendo had to try again. A new Super Mario Galaxy is on it's way for Wii.

The first thing I thought when I saw this video was the graphics were INCREDIBLE. Everything was so bright and happy, which is one of my favorite things about Mario games. The details are stunning. It also looks like a lot of 3D gameplay is involved. Mario can defy gravity once again.

Also, I'm thrilled that Yoshi is involved! It looks a lot like Super Mario World, where a lot of different colored Yoshis are involved. Yoshi uses his long tongue to eat various obstacles that block Mario's path. You can use the Wiimote to direct Yoshi's tongue, which is a plus. Yoshi also appears to have a speed burst and be inflatable.

Mario has access to a lot of new items as well. The screw is said to be a major part of the game, and you can use it to defeat bosses as well as solve puzzles when playing stages.

One of the reasons I'm so excited about this game is they brought back a lot of old school Mario elements. The different colored Yoshis, the triple jump, the sliding... it's making me feel quite nostalgic.

The release date was originally scheduled for 2009, but they pushed it back to 2010 due to the release of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, which is going to be released in 2009.
